I’m posting this because I actually thing is kind of funny but I do want to make a few comments.
It interesting and how the creator of this little piece of art manages to try and paint liberals as being irrational in their disdain for conservatives by mixing morally neutral stereotypes of conservatives (xenophobic, inbred, redneck, bible thumping, nascar loving, gun toting, america loving with other morally charged labels (racist, sexist, homophobic, Islamaphobic).
The message seems to be that liberals claim to be tolerant but really are just as intolerant of conservatives as conservatives are of liberals and everyone else who isn’t like them, which is obviously not true. Liberals are intolerant of ideologies that are intolerant, and rightly so, but are not intolerant of nascar despite their lack of interest in it. So, to lump the two together is quite disingenuous.
The other thing that jumps out at me is the presumed relativism involved in the “argument.” One groups intolerance of irrational hatred is just as intolerant, in the negative sense of the word, as another groups intolerance of other people race, gender, or sexual orientation.
The last thing that jumps out at me is that tolerance is not always a virtue. Sometimes it is morally praiseworthy to be intolerant. It morally praiseworthy to be intolerant of injustice, violence, hatred, discrimination, and intolerance!
