Heaven≡Earth Vol. 3
The Second Axial Age and the Coherent Cosmos
Excerpt
the axial age gave us reflection
it also gave us the deepest wound humanity has ever carried
to develop the watcher
the mind that observes itself
the mind had to draw a line
between itself and the world
between the self and what was not the self
between the i and everything else
this line allowed reflection
this line is also the wound
this chapter is about the wound
before the line was drawn
the human being lived inside the world
not as a thing in a place
not as a body in an environment
not as a self with a setting
inside
the world and the self were one fabric
the boundary was not yet drawn
the world was alive in a way that included you
you were part of the world in a way that did not require a word for it
then the line was drawn
the world became something out there
the self became something in here
