Topics
I work across several intersecting domains and am comfortable adapting the conversation to the angle a show takes. Below are the areas I’m most prepared to go deep on.
The Coherence Framework
- What Coherence Universalism is and what it’s trying to do
- Why meaning and morality need recovering, and what that looks like in practice
- The two-register architecture: how science and spirituality can constrain each other honestly
- Coherence as a structural property recoverable across physics, biology, mind, and society
Mental Health, Trauma, and Modern Suffering
- Depression, anxiety, and trauma as structural coherence failures rather than discrete illnesses
- Why the modern mental health system addresses symptoms but rarely the underlying structure
- Trauma-informed spiritual practice: what genuine integration looks like across body, emotion, mind, and meaning
- The bypass problem: why some spiritual practice makes things worse rather than better
- Embodied coherence: the role of physical practice in maintaining mental and emotional integration
Consciousness, Self, and Meaning
- Consciousness as coherence becoming self-recognizing
- Why meaning is not a human construction but a structural feature of reality (and what hangs on this)
- The five layers of personal coherence and what it means for them to integrate
- The contemplative traditions reframed: what they were doing, what survives modern scrutiny
AI, Alignment, and the Future of Intelligence
- Why current AI alignment approaches are missing structural conditions that matter
- Coherence-based architectures for AI safety and alignment
- What it would mean for AI systems to be genuinely conscious — and whether that’s the right question
- The relationship between artificial intelligence and the framework’s account of intelligence generally
Civilization, History, and the Present Moment
- The Second Axial Age: what’s happening to modern civilization at the level of structure
- Why so many institutions are simultaneously failing, and what that has in common
- Coherence at scale: families, communities, societies, and what holds them together or apart
- What rigorous philosophy can contribute to current political and cultural fragmentation

Sample Interview Questions
Introductory / framing questions
- What is Coherence Universalism, in your own words?
- You spent a decade as a monk before getting graduate degrees in philosophy and psychology. How does that combination shape your work?
- Why does the world need another framework? What does this one do that others don’t?
On meaning and morality
- You’ve said meaning is something to be “recovered” rather than constructed. What do you mean by that?
- Why is meaning eroding in modern life, and what would recovery look like?
- Is your view of morality compatible with both religious and secular worldviews? How?
On mental health and trauma
- You describe depression and anxiety as coherence failures rather than illnesses. What does that change?
- What does trauma-informed spiritual practice look like, concretely?
- Why does so much modern spiritual practice produce the opposite of what people are seeking?
On consciousness
- What is consciousness, on your view?
- How does your account differ from materialist and dualist accounts?
- Are you saying the universe is becoming conscious of itself? What does that mean and how seriously should we take it?
On AI and alignment
- You’ve filed several patents on AI alignment. What’s the framework trying to do?
- Why do you think current AI safety approaches are insufficient?
- Could an AI system ever be conscious, in your view?
On civilization and the present moment
- You write about a “Second Axial Age.” What does that mean and what’s happening?
- Why are so many of our institutions failing simultaneously?
- What does rigorous philosophy contribute to a political and cultural moment that often seems beyond philosophy?
Bigger picture questions
- What would it mean for you if your framework were largely correct? Largely wrong?
- What’s the part of your work that you’re most uncertain about?
- What do you most want listeners to take away from this conversation?
